Man oh man, did I get lucky today! I’ve been asking around at different stores trying to hone in on the Pappy ship date. Yet even with that info, I knew it would come down to sheer luck.
It’s Not What You Know, But Who You Know…
I ended up talking to a buddy (whose a sales rep) that let me know where I could (possibly) find a bottle. He said that he knew Costco got their shipment in this morning, and aside from a few they were setting aside they planned to sell them off first come first serve. That sounded like as good a tip as any so I gave them a call. The man who answered kinda hesitated after I asked about Pappy, then he told me that they sold out. I could have let it end there yet something told me to keep trying. I talked again to my friend and he said that stores always tell that to callers. They only want to sell those to people in store to prevent people from just fishing the allocated items. Needless to say I immediately hopped in the car to try my luck.
Upon my arrival and pappy inquiry, I was met with a “let me check” rather than a “sold out, sorry”. Shortly after, the gentleman returns from the back with this beauty in his hand! I was even more surprised to hear him say that it only cost $120!?! Most other bottles of 10 I’ve seen have been around $400. I couldn’t have been any happier with the price or purchase.
Now the tricky part will be exercising discipline in preserving this because who knows when I’ll have another chance to purchase.

This wonderful bourbon is bottled as close to barrel proof as possible. We add just a splash of our Kentucky limestone well-water when we empty the barrels for bottling. Thus, this whiskey is as smooth as any you will find.
See a rich, copper color. Smell enticingly sweet, spicy, caramel-nut-fudge aromas. Enjoy a fruity, medium-to full-bodied palate with intense dried fruit and toasted nuts notes. Each sip finishes with a very long, bold wave of peppery brown spices, floral honey and charred barrel flavors that balance the weight of the alcohol. It’s a big, bold, aged bourbon that has great balance for its high proof and flavor.
